In this video Mary and Robert talk about their experience of walking down Kentish Town road. Mary and Robert were checking how accessible the road is for Disabled people. Their findings will be fed back to Camden Disability Action’s (CDA) Street Access Co-Production Team, which includes Councillor Adam Harrison and Council Officer Karl Brierley as well as other Camden Councillors and Disabled volunteers.
CDA set up the Street Access Co-Production Team to give Disabled people and the Council a chance to work as equal partners on a problem of high importance to local Disabled people. At the moment, the team is concentrating on the Council’s Covid-19 streetscape schemes.
The team is reporting on problems and suggesting ways to adapt some of the schemes so they do not have a bigger negative impact on Disabled people than other people. The team is mainly looking at pop-up cycle lanes, LTNs and widened pavements (all Covid-19 related changes), but its members sometimes pick up on longstanding problems like A-boards and uneven pavements.
