This morning I had a run-in with the rubbish collector. He was shouting at me, complaining that my family hadn’t put our bins out on the street. The thing is we’re on a special list of people who don’t have to take our bins out because we’ve got mobility problems or we’re elderly. The rubbish collectors are supposed to take our bins out for us and then put them back again. Instead, they leave the bins on the street and if they see us they have a go at us for not taking them out ourselves.
All along the street the rubbish bins are in people’s way.
In fact they don’t put anyone’s bins back and all along the street rubbish bins are in people’s way. There’s a lot of people on our street who are partially sighted or who use wheelchairs or disability scooters and they can’t easily move around these bins. It’s really bad during the school runs when there are a lot of people out at the same time.
I’ve complained lots of times. One time a man came round, took photos of the bins on the street and told us he’d make sure it was clear to people that we were on that list. After that, things got better for a while but now it’s gone back to how it was before.
